Education Sponsorship Opportunities

Grants and Awards

Support early career conference attendees by sponsoring travel awards or childcare grants.

The opportunity to connect with fellow scientists at a conference is instrumental in generating pathways for aspiring scientists to be successful; however, attending professional conferences can be cost prohibitive. For TAGC 2016, GSA hopes to expand the funding available to trainees, especially those who would likely be unable to attend without support—such as those at under-resourced institutions and those with childcare responsibilities.

The following awards and grants will be available pending financial support:

  • TAGC Trainee Travel Awards: merit- and need-based assistance for graduate students and postdocs
  • GSA Undergraduate Travel Awards: support for undergraduates to present their research at TAGC (includes the Victoria Finnerty Awards for budding Drosophila geneticists)
  • TAGC Awards for Underrepresented Minorities: funding earmarked for exclusive use by attendees from populations typically underrepresented in genetics and biology
  • MaPD Childcare Grant: financial assistance to offset childcare costs for scientists with young families
