Meal Plan #1 $40 Lunch only Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the food court or food carts in the Orlando World Center Marriott meeting space.
Meal Plan #2 $70 Lunch only Thursday, Friday and Saturday at any of the Orlando World Center Marriott's participating restaurants and food carts.
Meal Plan #3 $185 This meal plan includes three meals per day Thursday, Friday and Saturday at any of the Orlando World Center Marriott's participating restaurants and food carts

NOTE: Events held during the lunch break do not include a meal. Food will be available for purchase near the meeting room. If you purchase a meal plan, you will be able to use your meal plan ticket at the grab and go carts as well.

Genetics is much in the news these days from concerns about the application of genome editing to the regulations for biologically engineered products to funding for basic research and resources. It's the perfect time for our community to make their voice heard by policymakers, reporters, and the general public. Attendees will learn how to be effective communicators of their scientific findings and importance of genetics model organism research.

Editor's Panel Discussion and Roundtable - 12:00 noon

This is an excellent opportunity for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and undergraduate students to have informal conversations with journal editors about the peer-review and scientific publishing process in general. There will be brief presentations by GENETICS Editor-in-Chief Mark Johnston, G3: Genes|Genomes|Genetics Editor-in-Chief Brenda J. Andrews and Tracey DePellegrin Executive Editor, GSA Journals, followed by rotating journal editors (from other genetics & genomics journals) so that each table gets discussion time with many editors.  

Topics may include: the peer-review process, writing to get published, where and how can your work have the most impact, how to handle reviewer comments and ethical issues in publishing. Pre-registration required.
Women in Genetics Panel and Networking - 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm $10
 This event will provide the opportunity for women scientists at all levels to learn strategies for effective networking and seeking mentorship, as well as becoming a mentor. Participants will also learn about the different available networks suitable for a variety of career levels and aspirations.
